The Georgia side of the Columbus RiverWalk begins in North Columbus at Lake Oliver and extends southward twenty-two miles to Fort Benning. It is divided into two areas and construction is underway to finish the entire path. The first area runs from the Lake Oliver Dam to the North Highlands Dam. The second section begins south of the North Highlands Dam, where the Chattahoochee River Whitewater Park begins, and can be accessed from First Avenue. It then passes the Fourteenth Street Pedestrian Bridge at TSYS and construction is currently underway for the RiverWalk to continue past the Eagle-Phenix Mill Condos to Fort Benning.

There are eleven designated access points on the Columbus side. Recent construction and expansion ensures a more continuous way for people who want to go to Fort Benning from Lake Oliver Marina. The City Mills site and the Bibb Mill site are currently under construction to complete the path. Now, the 14th Street Bridge is a pedestrian bridge for people to watch the Whitewater activities.

The Columbus side connects to the Phenix City RiverWalk at the 14th Street Pedestrian Bridge. The Phenix City RiverWalk extends from its southern most point at the Dillingham Street Bridge, to the Amphitheatre and over a couple of bridges near Cutbait rapids that allow a beautiful view of the whitewater. Running along the river on the Alabama side of the Chattahoochee River Whitewater Park, it currently ends at the City Mills Dam.

The RiverWalk on both sides of the Chattahoochee River are havens for activities such as walking, running, skateboarding, photography and more. People from all over the world will enjoy the beautiful landscapes and cityscapes along this one of a kind path.
